A unique climbing tool that enables climbers to ascend, descend and position themselves on both fixed and moving rope systems. The feature of Akimbo is that the rope contact surface (upper and lower guard posts) can be adjusted according to the needs and preferences of the climber to accommodate ropes of various sizes. The bollguard can also be adjusted to increase or decrease friction to adapt to changes in the climber's weight, environmental changes, or to adjust the contact surface of the Akimbo for natural wear.
